Director, Biomed Engineering - West Area

Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the AVP of Biomedical Engineering, the Director of Biomedical Engineering is responsible for directing the comprehensive service program at multiple hospitals while focusing on optimizing equipment uptime, program compliance and ensuring safety/performance in a cost-efficient, timely manner, and delivering PM/corrective services for all medical devices. This role oversees the activities of the Biomedical Engineering Managers and their teams in servicing, selecting, procuring, and delivering biomedical equipment, ensuring adherence to Joint Commission standards and other regulatory requirements.
This key individual collaborates with all levels of Wellstar Health System leadership regarding medical equipment. Additionally, they manage and support a medical device care technology portfolio that aids clinical teams through the development and execution of current and future care delivery models. This position also develops strategic relationships across the health system and oversees the medical device cost modeling with an emphasis on service quality, system optimization and utilization. The role includes comprehensive responsibility for administrative, HR, and financial business processes. As a critical member of the technology senior leadership team, they are also providing vision for expansion project strategy, medical device standardization, implementation, and adoption of clinical devices/platforms. Other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Education:
- Associates Biomedical Engineering is required.
- Bachelors degreee is preferred.
- Masters is preferred
Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
- Certified Healthcare Technology Manager (CHTM) is preferred and
- Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) is preferred
- Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) is preferred
Required Minimum Experience:
- Minimum 6 years management of a hospital Biomedical Engineering program is required
- Minimum 4 years large campus/Multi-hospital management experience required
- Minimum 6 years demonstrated leadership roles in cross disciplinary projects and activities within healthcare facilities is required
- Minimum 4 years experience analyzing and negotiating manufacturer and vendor agreements for devices and service is required
Required Minimum Skills:
- A+, Net+, CCNA or other IT certifications preferred.
- Significant experience in supporting networked medical devices and systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Capable of interpreting building architectural and systems drawings and information.
- Able to compose and deliver presentations regarding business strategy, medical devices and systems to clinical and administrative leadership groups.
