The Wellstar Rising Stars Nurse Residency Program is designed for nurses by nurses and nurse leaders, and it’s entirely unique to our organization. Our goal is to equip you as a nurse. Watch your career flourish with hands-on training, innovative resources, and a community of support.

When you start your residency with one of Georgia’s most integrated health systems, you can expect:

  • A 12-month program with multiple cohorts starting throughout the year
  • A supportive community, including a cohort of nurses who work in your hospital and share experiences and best practices
  • Guidance and support from residency leaders at your hospital to ease your transition from student to professional nurse
  • Formal mentoring program with experienced nurses
  • Structured educational experiences designed for the first-year nurse
  • Clinical guidance from experienced unit-based preceptors
  • Evidence-based curriculum guided by Wellstar subject matter and nurse residency experts
  • A program that aligns with the Wellstar Nursing Professional Practice Model Philosophy

What makes the Rising Stars Nurse Residency Program at Wellstar exceptional?

Wellstar is proud that our Nurse Residency Program is designated as an accredited Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation. Wellstar was the 5th PTAP-accredited residency program in Georgia! 

The ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) sets the global standard for residency programs that transition RNs. By meeting ANCC evidence-based criteria, our program demonstrates excellence in transitioning nurses to practice.

Wellstar Rising Stars Nurse Residency Program Eligibility Requirements

  • Recent RN graduate

  • Less than 6 months of RN experience

  • Licensed in the state of Georgia (or eligible)
