The Healthcare Data Analyst - Practice Improvement is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses – are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.

Job Summary:

The Data Analyst provides data analytics and visualization to support operations and process improvement initiatives across Wellstar Medical Group. The Data Analyst is responsible for defining data requirements, identifying sources for extracting clinical and operational data, validating accuracy, selecting and performing statistical analysis, developing appropriate reports, visualizations and dashboards.
The Data Analyst also coordinates with Enterprise Intelligence, Epic analysts and IT counterparts to ensure proper governance, maintenance, storage and appropriate data structures for reporting are in place. An outcomes driven position, the role is focused on providing accurate, timely and actionable information and insights that will translate into improved operations.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Data Analytics and Reporting
- Work with practice and process improvement teams to understand data and information needs
- Identify appropriate data sources and highlight data quality issues impacting analyses and bring issues to leadership attention
- Extract, process and collate data from existing systems or through collaboration with IT and EI teams
- Apply appropriate qualitative and/or quantitative analytical techniques to ensure statistical validity
- Synthesize data and analysis into visualizations and reports to provide insights and actionable recommendations
- Perform benchmarking and comparative analysis techniques and interpretation
- Maintain and update repository of reports, data and related documentation 60% Dashboards and Visualization Development
- Identify the need for dashboard and visualization development based on operational needs and repeat requests for information
- Selection of the most appropriate visualization tool including best graphical or numerical representation of the information and the appropriate level of interactivity and drill down
- Design, develop, document, and distribute the selected visualization within the guidelines of the Wellstar Enterprise Intelligence (EI) framework
- Deliver end user training to the on the use of the tools and method of interpretation of the visualization 20% Analytics Technology and Process Improvement
- Maintain a working knowledge of relational databases and how to practically work with the data housed therein
- Maintain a working knowledge of technology tools used by WellStar to present information (e.g. BI, SQL, Advanced MS Excel, Epic, MS SharePoint and other tools)
- Serve as a WMG resource for BI Specialists and others within the organization
- Continually look to maintain, grow, and develop knowledge and skills in applicable tools
- Understand process improvement techniques utilized at WellStar and practice them
- Participate in process improvement efforts to enhance productivity and efficiency of WMG practices 20%

Required Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, IT or related field Required or

    Required Minimum Experience:

    Minimum 4 years data analytics and reporting experience in healthcare environment Required and
    Proficiency with data analytics and reporting tools including including Advanced MS Excel, SQL Required and
    Experience creating effective visualizations and dashboards using Power BI, Tableau or other Required and
    Working knowledge of Epic, Clarity and Slicer Dicer Preferred
