The Comprehensive Breast Health Program Medical Director is a key leadership role within the Wellstar Women's Health Service Line. This position is designed for a highly skilled Breast Surgeon/Specialist who will drive the development and implementation of a comprehensive, patient-centered breast health program. The Medical Director will work closely with system leadership, clinical teams, and other stakeholders to establish and maintain a unified vision for breast health services, ensuring high-quality, coordinated care across the continuum of breast care.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree (MD or DO) with board certification in Breast Surgery or General Surgery with specialized training in breast health.
  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in breast health, with a strong background in multidisciplinary care.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably in a healthcare or academic setting.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to excellence in patient care and continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of clinical and administrative professionals.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and define a shared purpose and vision of a comprehensive patient­ centered breast health program in partnership with the Wellstar Women's Health Service Line and system leadership
  • Serve as a key leader in the development and implementation of this vision through its translation into a strategic plan and program
  • Serve as a subspecialty subject matter expert and convener on breast health
  • Serve as the lead breast health liaison for all providers and areas regularly collaborating with breast providers around Pl efforts. This includes but is not limited to: obstetrics and gynecology, primary care, radiology, pathology, surgical oncology, anesthesia, plastic surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, nursing, and perioperative services
  • Build, promote, and foster a collaborative relationship among colleagues across the continuum of breast care
  • Assist in developing, implementing and regularly updating patient care protocols, pathways and guidelines for the delivery of patient care to assure consistency with national best practice standards
  • Assist and support quality oversight and overall coordination of patient care within current areas related to breast health
  • Serve as a system Physician Liaison in partnership with the Wellstar Women's Health Service Line, including meeting and committee participation
