Overview:
Wellstar Health System, a nationally recognized leader in integrated healthcare, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Surgical Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our growing team. The APP will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, physicians, and clinical staff to deliver comprehensive perioperative care to surgical patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform pre-operative and post-operative patient assessments under the supervision of a physician.
Assist in surgical procedures and provide first assist services, as credentialed.
Manage inpatient and outpatient care, including hospital rounds, consults, follow-ups, and discharge planning.
Document patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely and accurate manner.
Collaborate with surgeons and care teams to ensure quality outcomes and continuity of care.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests and lab results.
Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans in accordance with state law and hospital policy.
Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, and follow-up care.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings.
Be available for call coverage and weekend shifts as needed.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) program.
Current Georgia licensure as an NP or PA.
Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (FNP/ACNP) or Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
Surgical first assist experience preferred; new graduates with strong surgical rotations may be considered.
BLS and ACLS certification (required).
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Experience with EMR systems (Epic preferred).
