This position will be at the Roosevelt Wellstar facility in Warm Springs, GA

Job Summary:

Functions as a part of a large and varied healthcare team consisting of physicians, nurses, allied health personnel, and members of the community. Responsibilities include providing direct patient care to a variety of diagnostic categories and supervising rehabilitation technicians, volunteers, and students. Caseloads may consist of adult and pediatric inpatients and outpatients.

Patient Treatment

  • Implement treatment utilizing appropriate protocols, media, methods and/or approaches following the review of the evaluation results, goals, and treatment plan with the therapist.

  • Documents treatment plan according to department policy and bills for services.

  • Terminates treatment when anticipated goals and expected outcomes have been achieved or when contraindicated, potentially harmful or the patient is not benefiting the patient.

Patient Assessment

  • Assists with the formal evaluation of patients including the use of standardized tests in specialty areas of practice.

  • Performs assessment as warranted by condition and status and modifies treatment goals as needed.

  • Notifies supervising therapists regarding the need for reassessment.

  • Documents findings according to department policy and bills for services.

  • Makes recommendations for other services, equipment, etc.

Education

  • Provides a positive learning environment for observers, volunteers, students, and co-workers.

  • Willingly accepts learners and ensures learning objectives are achieved.

  • Provides learning opportunities for department staff on topics related to clinical specialty.

Productivity

  • Meets departmental productivity standards.

  • Takes initiative to ensure that established productivity standard is met on an ongoing and regular basis.

  • Takes an active role in servicing patients with immediate needs. Documents productivity in a timely manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Education

  • Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Required

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Required Minimum Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Occupational Therapy as an Assistant Required

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)

  • Current American Heart Association, Basic Life Support (BLS).

  • Licensure(s) • Georgia State Licensure

Required Minimum Skills

  • Ability to communicate well, critical thinking skills, establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other health care professionals, and computer skills including familiarity with databases.

  • Good customer relation, assessment, and communication skills are a must for this job.
