Job Summary:
The Exec Director of Enterprise Architecture at Wellstar is a hands-on strategic leader whose role is pivotal in shaping the technological backbone of the organization, ensuring that our IT architecture aligns with our business goals and supports our mission to deliver world-class healthcare.
The Exec Director of Enterprise Architecture will operationalize the enterprise architecture function to develop and implement enterprise architecture strategies, standards, and processes that align with Wellstar's business objectives and healthcare delivery goals. This leader will work closely with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, to provide architectural solutions for complex business needs and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
The ideal candidate will foster a collaborative environment to lead partnered teams in solving difficult technical problems and ensure their success through constant communication and collaboration. This leader is a key member of the organization's technology leadership team.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with senior leadership, IT teams, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into technology solutions
- Lead the architecture design of enterprise-wide solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Conduct architecture reviews, risk assessments, and technical due diligence for new projects and solutions.
- Develop and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks, principles, and best practices to support business goals.
- Lead and mentor a team of architects and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Document and communicate architecture designs, decisions, and roadmaps effectively.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science is required.
- Masters Information Technology is preferred.
Required Minimum Experience:
- Minimum 10 years software engineering or software architecture is required.
- Minimum 5 years technology leadership roles is required.
- Minimum 5 years enterprise or software architecture is required.
- Proven experience breaking down large business problem statements into bite-sized technical solutions is required.
- Experience with healthcare technology is required.
- Expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-native architecture is required.
- Expertise in microservices, API management, DevOps, and containerization technologies is required.
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise integration strategies using ESB, API gateways, and event-driven architectures is required.
- Relevant certifications (TOGAF, AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, etc.) are a plus.
- Experience in Agile and DevSecOps methodologies is preferred.
Required Minimum Skills:
- Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman, or FEAF).
- In-depth understanding of IT security principles, data governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to align technology with business strategy
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and their potential impact on healthcare.
- Knowledge of AI/ML, IoT, and blockchain technologies.
