Job Summary:

The Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) Program supervisor is a key member of the cancer screening & prevention team. This role is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and administrative oversight for the RN navigators, coordinators, and LCS dedicated schedulers. Will also help grow the lung screening program and support Wellstar Health System's strategic goals and objectives; assure that budgetary parameters are maintained and that the program aligns with service line potential and service expectations. Works collaboratively with key physician stakeholders, system leaders, internal departments, and community partnering organizations to enhance relationships, build trust, and develop strategies to increase cancer screening rates and educational awareness at each Wellstar hospital/system location. Prepares and delivers screening in-service to physician practices and community groups as needed. Assists with billing issues and patient concerns. Provide clinical guidance to LCS team.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Has oversight for lung screening program and processes to ensure prompt coordination of results and delivery of patient care. a. Serve as resource to patients, physicians, community members, and staff for information, questions, or concerns regarding screening program or processes. b. Manage time and prioritize job responsibilities to meet changing demands of work load as determined by screening volume. c. Attend health fairs, community events, or various outreach opportunities to promote lung cancer education and awareness. d. Support WellStar Foundation and other hospital sanctioned events through participation or volunteering as duties allow. e. Responsible for additional projects as directed by leadership, including data collection and analysis. f. Alerts leadership to any potential or identified developing problems, challenges or concerns and work in close collaboration to resolve. g. Partners with RN Clinical Leader to complete Clinical Competencies verification. Accountable for delegation of workload to assigned direct reports ensuring prompt and accurate dissemination of results and coordination of clinical intervention. a. Oversee and ensure the coordination, communication, and dissemination of screening results. b. Evaluate clinical findings to determine level of urgency and route findings to appropriate physician to initiate plan of care. c. Determines clinical caseload distribution and priority for nurse navigators. d. Attend STAT clinic when needed to present cases for physician review. e. Delegates tracking past due patients using a systematic process. f. Communicate with executive director, medical director, physicians, patients and other staff as required. g. Delegate and ensure data is appropriately captured and abstracted for monthly metric reporting. Assist with other departmental functions as needed. a. Utilize resources effectively to ensure a smooth and efficient working environment that promotes accountability for departmental duties and responsibilities. b. Works in collaboration with Revenue Integrity Department, track Foundation cases, and maintain financial ledger accordingly. c. Attend departmental meetings as required. d. Adhere to, support, and embody WellStars customer service commitment to excellence.

Required Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Health Administration or Bachelors Medical Science or Bachelors Nursing-Preferred or Bachelors Other


Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

  • Reg Nurse (Single State)-Preferred or RN - Multi-state Compact-Preferred or Registered Radiology Tech-Preferred

Required Minimum Experience:

Minimum 5 years of clinical program experience with thoracic and/or pulmonary expertise, including working knowledge of LungRads and/or Fleischner's guidelines. Required and
Minimum 3 years experience in a health care setting in the IP, ambulatory or other clinical professional setting with direct supervisory responsibilities, including basic billing knowledge. Required or
Minimum 3 years in an administrative or leadership role in a clinical environment, with basic billing knowledge. Required or
Minimum 3 years of clinical practice with Bachelors of Science or Health Related Degree, including basic billing knowledge. Required and

Exceptional customer service skills. Must be able to handle multiple high priority tasks and possess time management skills. Must be able to operate a car and travel to all physician practices, facilities and hospitals when needed. of work hours require travel.
