Overview:
The primary role of the Practice Improvement Consultant is to oversee the development, management and implementation of WellStar Medical Group initiatives to support process improvement and transformation across the medical group. The Consultant will work with organizational leaders including providers and team members to hardwire best practices to support and enhance care delivery. The Consultant may lead multiple project workstreams for multiple clients; small engagement teams or components of large, complex engagements. The Consultant is responsible for project execution and delivery, governance, prioritization, resource planning, execution tools, training, and monthly reporting as they apply to assigned projects and new/improved processes. This role includes both administrative (organizational) and strategic (consultative) responsibilities for managing projects/initiatives.

Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Provide administrative and tactical management / facilitation of projects
    * A. Define scope, goals and deliverables and manage changes in project scope throughout the duration of the project
    * B. Estimate resources and participants needed to achieve project goals, including management of vendors or consultant resources
    * C. Develop project plans and associated communications documents
    * D. Responsible for thoroughly understanding and communicating stakeholder requirements to appropriate team members, and managing all requirements accordingly
    * E. Establish clear ownership for project tasks, and ensure that team members have the tools needed, and provide timely feedback
    * E. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
    * G. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team

  • Provide advisory and consultative skills to project needs and initiatives.
    * A. Conduct consultation sessions with managers and operational leaders for departments as related to PI process, tools, methodologies, projects, data/analysis, presentations and documentation of PI activities
    * B. Conduct scheduled and random rounds to departments / practices to review PI materials and talk with managers, operational leaders, providers, and staff regarding PI progress and outcomes.
    * C. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
    * D. Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project
    * E. Assist in other operational and improvement and implementation projects, as required

  • Deliverable Development and Procurement
    * A.Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations
    * B.Lead or help to create needed deliverable documents as assigned by project leadership
    * C.Facilitate policies and procedures during the project needed to meet deliverables

  • Other Duties as Assigned
    * a.Provide facilitation and organization of large meetings, leadership teams and groups as requested
    * b.Lead the gathering and dissemination of materials for meetings, provide edits and restructuring.
    * c.Attend management, project team, and customer meetings as requested.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

    Required Minimum Education:

  • BS or BA Degree required

  • Master's Degree (MPH / MHA / MBA / etc.) required or

  • Other professional graduate degree required

    Required Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of process improvement experience within healthcare highly preferred to facilitate and apply critical thinking skills to resolve issues and problems required.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience within a healthcare environment strongly preferred with superior critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills required.

  • Proven experience consulting and influencing change at the leadership and clinician level required.

  • Experience leading complex, multi-site process improvement initiatives in healthcare organization(s) required.

  • Experience in coaching and mentoring others in the concepts and tools of process improvement required.

    Required Minimum Skills

  • This role will focus on creating relationships with customers.

  • Ability to travel to multiple WellStar locations

  • Intermediate or better competence in Microsoft Office applications

  • Understanding of relational database structures and concepts

    Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)
