The Pharmacy Automation Analyst, FT Days is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses – are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.

Facility: Kennestone Hospital

Hours: FT Days, Tuesday through Friday 7am - 5:30 pm

Note: This position will require candidates with hospital experience. You must have strong written and verbal communication skills.  Experience working with hospital technology is a must.  

Job Summary:
Functions under the direction of either the Pharmacy Director, or pharmacy leader as assigned. Responsible for support of Pharmacy Technology to include: Pyxis MedStation Systems, AutoPharm/AutoPack/AutoMed Systems, Medication Carousels, Inventory tracking system, Bar coding initiatives, Safety First IS Initiative, Epic, and all other applications that may arise. Devises and maintains all reporting capability from related computer systems. Monitors controlled substance daily dispense reports, open and resolved discrepancies, and initiates investigations into unusual activity. Information surrounding these initial investigations is reported to the Director of Pharmacy.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Project Coordination
- Assists with project plans, goals, deadlines, testing, implementation and post live support of complex software system applications. Coordinates Pharmacy Project Services
- Coordinates the Pharmacy Services systems by monitoring service needs, recommending system functions, upgrading system as needed, tracking data trends, defining report methodology and providing training to the Pharmacy Services Staff.
- Identifies and coordinates routine maintenance with automation to ensure efficiencies and optimal performance. Computer Program Components
- Collects information through the various computer applications
- Defines, compiles, and interprets computer reports
- Maintains all Pharmacy related systems
- Provides technical assistance to Pharmacy/Nursing staff in the use of the various applications
- Implements, maintains and updates computer applications to include all file maintenance and
- upgrades. Controlled Substance Management
- Daily review and identification all open discrepancies and appropriate resolution of closed discrepancies.
- Participate in monthly proactive diversion reporting and notify the Director of Pharmacy with random auditing

Required Minimum Education:
High School graduate Required or
High school diploma Required

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

  • Cert Pharmacy Tech


Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
Registered with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy Required

Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 1 year of distribution Required and
pharmacy automation experience Required and
Minimum 1 year hospital pharmacy experience Required and
Experience in application support and development Required and
Prefer healthcare project experience Preferred

Required Minimum Skills:
Strong computer and IS troubleshooting skills.
Must have effective process, interdepartmental coordination, delegation, critical thinking , and problem solving skills.
Proven ability to trouble shoot Pharmacy computer applications required.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
