Job Summary:
Wellstar Health System is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Neuropsychologist to join our dynamic healthcare team at Kennestone Hospital. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with cognitive, emotional, and behavioral disorders stemming from neurological and medical conditions. As part of an interdisciplinary team, the neuropsychologist will provide patient-centered care while contributing to research, education, and the development of treatment programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations, including interviews, assessments, and interpretations, to diagnose and treat neurological, cognitive, and emotional conditions.
- Collaborate with medical teams, including neurologists, psychiatrists, and rehabilitation specialists, to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide therapeutic interventions and cognitive rehabilitation services to patients with neurological conditions such as traumatic brain injuries, stroke, dementia, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other neurodegenerative disorders.
- Prepare detailed reports to communicate findings and treatment recommendations to patients, families, and referring physicians.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences to ensure integrated and holistic care.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and strategies for managing neurological and psychological symptoms.
- Contribute to clinical research and quality improvement initiatives within the neuropsychology department.
- Supervise and mentor students, interns, or fellows as part of training programs.
Qualifications:
- Education: Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology or Neuropsychology from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Licensed or license-eligible to practice psychology in the state of Georgia.
- Certification: Board certification or eligibility for certification in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of two years of supervised postdoctoral training in neuropsychology.
- Experience working with patients with neurological disorders in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in administering and interpreting neuropsychological assessments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams and patients.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload with a high level of professionalism and organization.
