We are looking for a skilled and adaptable Registered MRI Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be dependable, accountable, and cooperative, with a strong commitment to providing safe, high-quality patient care.
You will be responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures using advanced MRI equipment, requiring both independent judgment and technical expertise. Core Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Obtain comprehensive clinical histories, gather exam data, and assess for contraindications.
- Administer contrast media according to department protocols to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Verify patient identification and ensure proper labeling for all imaging studies.
- Review images for clinical acceptability and release patients when appropriate.
- Respond quickly to emergency situations and assist other technologists as needed.
- Observe patient conditions and escalate to the physician if necessary to ensure safety.
- Maintain patient privacy and dignity throughout the procedure, ensuring their comfort.
- Demonstrate expertise in patient positioning, understanding anatomical considerations, and using appropriate safety devices.
- Prepare patients for procedures, demonstrating proficiency in sterile techniques and pre- and post-procedural care.
- Administer and monitor contrast media, ensuring accurate dosing based on patient weight and lab results.
- Demonstrate critical thinking by seeking clarification on ambiguous orders.
Equipment & Technology:
- Operate MRI equipment and adjust settings to ensure high-quality imaging results.
- Report equipment malfunctions to supervisors or service providers for timely resolution.
- Clean and maintain equipment according to infection control standards.
- Operate patient monitoring systems and ensure the equipment is fully functional before each use.
- Proactively ensure the MRI suite remains secure and safe, adhering to all safety protocols.
Education & Communication:
- Explain procedures to patients clearly and compassionately, using the AIDET framework (Acknowledge, Introduce, Discuss, Explain, Thank You).
- Address patient concerns and contraindications, notifying the physician if necessary.
- Participate in the training and orientation of new staff members.
- Maintain concise, accurate documentation using appropriate medical terminology.
- Stay informed by reading departmental emails and following through with assigned tasks.
- Complete mandatory departmental and hospital-wide education on schedule.
Quality Control & Operations:
- Produce clinically acceptable images and follow established protocols for each exam.
- Perform quality checks on equipment to ensure calibration and proper function before use.
- Upload all imaging studies to PACS promptly and print CDs as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized MRI department and ensure all supplies are restocked.
- Transport and assist patients with positioning, providing supportive equipment and immobilization devices as needed.
- Perform routine clerical and support tasks to ensure smooth departmental operations.
- Maintain high levels of productivity and collaborate effectively with team members to meet departmental goals.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Science program required.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Certified MRI Technologist or ARRT MRI certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in patient imaging, including MRI required.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, physicians, and team members.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to function independently and under pressure while working collaboratively within a team.
- In-depth knowledge of MRI techniques, patient positioning, and safety protocols.
- Competency in cross-sectional anatomy, pulse sequences, and magnet safety.
