Job Summary:
The lifeguard functions under the direction of the Aquatic and Massage Supervisor. Lifeguards will be available to guard family swim times and/or designated classes, and be responsible for enforcing safety rules during these times. The lifeguard will also be responsible for weekly maintenance of pool and whirlpools as outlined by the Aquatic and Massage Supervisor. This role is responsible for providing excellent customer service and adhering to facility and job specific customer service guidelines.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Responsible for maintaining/enforcing safety in and around the pool and surrounding areas.
- Maintains constant surveillance of members and patrons in the pool; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of members and patrons in the event of an emergency.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations 40% Efficiently and in an excellent manner completes all required duties outlined on the lifeguard checklist.
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- 40% Consistently follows established procedures and guidelines for all pool/whirlpool maintenance.
- Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a safe and clean facility. 20%
Required Minimum Education:
High school diploma Required or
GED Required or
currently enrolled in High School. Required
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
- Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor
Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent), CPR, and First Aid certification. Upon Hire Required and
AHA BLS within 30 Days Required
Required Minimum Experience:
Less than 1 year minimum 6 months experience in pool maintenance and handling pool chemicals and lifeguarding.
Preferred

Displays excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Displays excellent health and wellness lifestyle.
