ED Supply Specialist

Job Summary:
The ED Supply Specialist position reports directly to the operational leader in the Emergency Department. Key responsibilities of the role include the responsibility for acquisition, storage and distribution of supplies and serves as a liaison between the emergency department and materials management. This position also monitors budget performance and participates in value analysis activities. Impact of this role in the organization is huge! Keeping supplies stock and ready allow the clinical team take care of the patient. The patient is always at the center of everything we do!Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Maintain inventory control for materials as appropriate. * Order chargeable and non-charge supplies, minor equipment, office supplies, paper and forms. * Receive supplies daily and place into usable stock. * Work with ED physicians to maintain a current stock of preferred medical supplies. * Help perform daily inventory of required supplies not stocked by SPD. Assumes responsibility for other duties assigned by management * Ensures quality control on ED equipment (Dopplers, head lamps, slit lamps, EKG and Vital Sign machines). * Ensures repair of minor equipment, including replacing parts on HP monitors, VS machines and EKG machines. * Provides education to employees on changes in supplies and new equipment. * Ensures that all maintenance, bio-med, telecom and IS work orders or tickets are completed in a timely manner. * Serves as primary contact for outside vendors. * Works with outside vendors on new products and price quotes. Maintain records as required by regulatory agencies * Maintain JCAHO, DHR, and OSHA regulations for supplies, equipment, cleanliness and some hazardous materials disposal. Maintain refrigerator and temperature log sheets. * Maintain safety manual (New MSDS sheets and new product specification sheets) * Survey the ED for the Environment of Care Report * Maintain ED cleanliness and appearance (Need for painting, monthly stretcher cleaning, curtain replacement, ceiling tile replacement and work needed for the floors). Monitors expenditure trends including research, analysis and resolution of outliers * Provides director / operational manager with monthly budget reports (audit trails, issue summary reports) * Assists the director / operational manager with calculating and accumulating items for budget purposes. * Works closely with other departments (bio-med, materials management, CSS and lab) to keep supply and operating costs within budget. * Works with ED staff on implementing processes to retain supplies and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.Required Minimum Education:
Associate's Degree in management Preferred or other related field PreferredRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 3 years experience in a hospital environment Required and Basic knowledge of inventory Required and distribution system Required and Recent experience in Purchasing and Materials Management RequiredRequired Minimum Skills:
Must be able to communicate and understand verbal and written English language and display a positive attitude. Must have strong analytical and computer skills. Must be able to work collaboratively with clinical staff and function under stress. Basic keyboarding skills are required.Recommended Jobs
