Overview

The Director, Hospital Communications is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses – are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.

Job Summary:


Reporting to the Vice President of Organizational Communications, the Director of Communications oversees Wellstar's external and internal communications in collaboration with leadership at the assigned location(s) and/or region(s). The Director must thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The Director makes annual plans and serves as the lead executive responsible for all integrated communications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Partner with local leadership and Wellstar System communications team, create annual communication plans and budgets, including geography-specific objectives.
2. Create executive communications and presentations for operational leaders and stakeholders.
3. Develop promotional materials to support workforce initiatives, awards, facility wayfinding, etc., in collaboration with Marketing, as necessary.
4. Provides leadership on communications projects, ensuring that communications reflect divisional commitments, strategic priorities, and quality requirements.
5. Attend local stakeholder meetings and lead communications projects/ and or presentations when applicable.
6. Manages all internal and external communications in close collaboration with operational leadership.
7. Serve as Public Information Officer for on-site crisis communications.
8. Provide counsel regarding communications best practices to local executives and participate in system-wide strategy discussion.
9. Partner with System to localize communications for internal and external audiences.
10. Facilitate on-site public relations activities and special events.
11. Strongly collaborate with System internal communications and clinical communications teams to fully leverage team resources.
12. Work with the internal communications team to conduct provider communication initiatives, events, and other internal communications initiatives to help ensure all Wellstar team members are aligned with corporate strategy.
13.Perform other duties as assigned to conduct the mission of Wellstar Health System.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


Annual Business Plan creation and management in support of local marketing objectives and strategies and the ability to manage required outcomes for an integrated marketing campaign. Engagement of local stakeholders to cultivate community relationships Work with different team configurations to facilitate two-way communication and be responsible for integrating the local geography and the corporate team seamlessly. Collaboration with other team members to solve problems in pursuit of objectives.

Required Minimum Education:


Bachelor's Degree Required
Master's Degree Preferred

Required Minimum Experience:

Minimum 6 + years of experience in integrated marketing and communications

2+ years of experience leading other team members

Required Minimum Skills:


Ability to produce marketing plans using the Microsoft suite of software.
Ability to lead meetings and work with geographically dispersed teams.
