Job Summary: The Restorative Nursing Aide is a support provider who functions under the direct supervision of the registered professional nurse. The R.N.A.'s primary focus will be to promote a positive patient experience by partnering with the patient, family and other health care providers to provide excellence in customer service and assistance with activities of daily living, nutrition, hygiene, socialization, and comfort measures. The R.N.A. assists other health care providers with safe, age appropriate and culturally aware care by performing basic patient care functions i.e. bathing, toileting, ambulation, vital signs, skin care, feeding, and other technical procedures for which they are credentialed. The R.N.A. will ensure that the proper supplies are stocked in the patient's environment. The R.N.A. must be able to complete all required tasks for the C.N.A. position and complete specialized education in the Restorative Nursing Section of the MOS 3.0/RUG IV manual. The R.N.A. will also act as a C.N.A. preceptor for new hires as needed. The R.N.A will work directly with the Restorative Coordinator to develop and ensure completion of assigned tasks, recording therapy minutes, and documentation. Must be comfortable with caring for geriatric patients. Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and be able to enter documentation on the computer. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: - R.N.A. must also pass a skills check off for restorative specific tasks including but not limited to: a.Urinary toileting program and/or bowel toileting program b.Passive and/or active range of motion c.Splint or brace assistance d.Bed mobility and/or walking training e.Transfer training f.Dressing and/or grooming training g.Eating and/or swallowing training h.Amputation/Prostheses care - Excellence in Customer Service by partnering with health care team, patient and family a.Protects rights and dignity of patient at all times. b.Maintains confidentiality c.Participates in hourly patient rounding (in the IPU setting) d.Answers telephone and call lights promptly and notifies appropriate individual of needs for follow-up. (in the IPU setting) e.Resolves patient concerns and immediately informs the RN/manager of complaints f.Proactively offers assistance and comfort measures to patients and families g.Present self in positive and professional manner and show sensitivity to concerns and needs of others. - Provide patient care under the supervision of the registered Professional Nurse and according to the written Plan of Care a.Provide basic patient care needs (ex. hygiene, nutrition, elimination, physical comfort measures) as assigned. b.Assist RN and other members of health care team with care delivery as assigned c.Provide meals and nourishment to the patient according to dietary standards and the plan of care. d.Take vital signs and document, report verbally to the RN any unusual findings. e.Document all patient care delivered in a timely manner as required by policy Required Minimum Education: High school diploma Required be a graduate from an accredited training program for nursing assistants that offers no less than 75 hours of classroom and practical training, supervised by a registered RN. Required Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 2 years consecutive C.N.A. experience following the completion of training.
