Overview

The Personal Trainer is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses – are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.

Job Summary:

The personal trainer functions under the direction of the Supervisor of Fitness Programs. This individual is passionate about fitness and coaching others with purpose while providing excellent customer service. Assists in the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of all Wellstar fitness and other health promotion services/events to achieve desirable health outcomes. Responsible for conducting client fitness assessment and consultations, supervising/assisting with all workouts in the exercise areas within Health Place and/or Employee Fitness Centers, conducting personal training sessions and exercise classes as needed. Must enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Personal Training - Perform one-on-one training sessions with clients. - Small group training - Responsible for a portion of monthly personal training revenue. - Responds promptly to emergency medical situations and executes established emergency procedures. - Design exercise programs specific to individual needs. - Prepare exercise program prior to client appointment time based on appropriate fitness assessment. - Evaluate client over time and adjust goals as needed. Fitness Consultations/Assessments - Perform an equipment orientation with new members of Health Place and/or the Employee Fitness Centers. - Instruct clients on the use of all exercise equipment. - Assists members with baseline goal setting and promotes appropriate programs to assist new member in completion of wellness/fitness goals. - Conduct thorough fitness assessments as needed for the client. Marketing and Outreach - Partners with Employee Wellness Specialist at locations to market personal training services. - Attends Wellness events at locations (Know Your Numbers, Wellness Days, Maintain Don’t Gain, etc.) - Participates in community outreach events as needed at Health Place and/or Employee Fitness Centers. Lead group exercise classes - Provides class with exercise movements that are physiologically safe and effective and are of the appropriate intensity for the target audience and established class style. - Displays enthusiasm and strives to motivate participants to work out within their individual exercise prescriptions. - Uses a variety of exercise movements during classes to provide a complete workout and maintain class interest. - Utilizes teaching techniques effectively including verbal and visual cueing/demonstrations. Provides support for daily facility maintenance and operations - Maintains cleanliness of Health Place and/or Employee Fitness Centers and equipment. - Participates in monthly team meetings. - Maintains consistent and appropriate communication with leadership staff and team members. - Participates in employee wellness events to encourage people to become members of Health Place and/or Employee Fitness Centers. - Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs. - Participate in community and employee-based events including health fairs, Employee Wellness events, races, open houses, new program launches, etc.

Required Minimum Education:

High school diploma GED Required or currently enrolled in High School. Required

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

BLS - Provisional 1.00 Required BLS - Instructor 1.00 Required Basic Life Support 1.00 Required

Additional Licenses and Certifications:

Personal training certification that is NCAA accredited. Preferred

Required Minimum Experience:

Experience preferred but will train under supervisors’ direction. Required

Required Minimum Skills:

Display strong motivation for community outreach and working with people. Displays excellent organizational, communication, and motivational skills. Displays excellent health and wellness lifestyle. Exercise independent judgement, ingenuity, and initiative when performing roles. Competent in all in all Microsoft office.
