OverviewAttends to patients being transported by ambulance on emergency and non-emergency calls and is responsible for the patient's safety in route. Under the supervision of a paramedic this position delivers emergency patient care such as administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation, oxygen and resuscitation with an ambu bag. This position provides emergency technical care at the scene of an accident or other emergency. Responsibilities involve preparation for response, response, delivery of care, transportation, documentation, and post response duties. Also may participate in life safety programs, community awareness programs, and other programs as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

* Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment.
* Ensures a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.
* Attends/completes annual education programs.
* Interacts with all of the above in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner as observed by nurse manager and peers.
* Fosters mature professional relationships with fellow employees in a courteous, friendly manner as measured by management observation and peer input.
* Maintains professional composure and confidence during stressful situations.
* Maintains open communication using appropriate chain of command regarding issues.
* Conducts all work activities with respect for rights and wishes of patients, visitors, families, and fellow employees.
* Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times as observed by peers and management.
* Presents neat appearance in proper attire and identification as required by the position, department, and the hospital’s policy.
* Continuously displays a positive attitude within the department and across departmental lines to contribute to the overall customer service program in place at the hospital.
* Utilizes shared management model to facilitate decision-making regarding practice, educational, and quality improvement.
* Participates in a minimum of one staff meeting per quarter.
* Supports the hospital's mission, policies, and procedures.
* Demonstrates competence in using the Cerner computer system.
* Completes work assignments on time/readily accepts assignments.
* Reports to work on time and is at work as scheduled and confirmed by Kronos system.
* Identifies and/or assumes activities relative to the developmental needs of the unit and the nursing department.
* Demonstrates dependability/flexibility in meeting scheduling needs of the unit and hospital.
