Overview
The primary responsibility is to expand upon the strategic fundraising plan to support the mission of the Wellstar Health System through a focus on major and planned gifts, with an aim of $10,000+ per gift. The position will maintain a portfolio of prospects and will adhere to all development processes and standards of the office. Reporting to, the VP of Philanthropy, this position is expected to manage a portfolio of medium - high net worth individuals, corporations and foundations to achieve gifts for key institutional priorities.



Responsibilities
Core Responsibilites and Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute strategies to engage grateful patients and their families in philanthropy, focusing on major gifts. Work closely with clinicians and physician champions to promote referrals and a culture of giving.

  • Demonstrate initiative by independently identifying and pursuing new fundraising opportunities. Use entrepreneurial methods to grow the donor base and tailor fundraising strategies to meet the specific needs of the Augusta community.

  • Independently oversee projects from start to finish, ensuring they align with strategic goals and adhere to organizational standards. Manage multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic environment.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clinician champions and healthcare professionals to support the hospital's philanthropic priorities. Integrate key stakeholders into fundraising efforts to enhance the Grateful Patient Program’s effectiveness.

  • Manage and cultivate a portfolio of prospective donors
    * Identify, cultivate, and solicit individuals for major gifts, typically soliciting gifts from $10K+. Manage a portfolio of approximately 75 -120 major gift prospects with the capacity to support the mission of WellStar Health System with substantial gifts.
    * Follow established procedures to create, implement, document and update solicitation strategies.
    * Effectively communicate the mission, vision, values and priorities within the internal and external community: translate scientific information into common language as needed.
    * Develop major gift proposals in collaboration with appropriate team members and proposal recipients. Track progress of proposal; strategize follow-up and intermediate moves between submission and decision. Develop and maintain a working relationship to encourage team members to identify potential prospects and provide them with feedback as appropriate.
    * Successfully lead facility tours in conjunction with facility priorities.
    * Work closely with the VP of Philanthropy to meet the objectives and spirit of the donor’s wishes that align with system priorities. Actively seek internal relationships and follow the Donor Engagement Program successfully within the organization.
    * Ensure performance complies with all pertinent policies and procedures governing HIPAA and ethical fundraising standards. Maintain a high level of understanding and proficiency in all aspects of applicable laws, policies, procedures and standards governing the operation of a fundraising function.
    * Maintain an active knowledge of key legacy gift vehicles to best meet the expectations of potential donors.
    * At the direction of the Director of Strategic Giving, provide leadership to special projects as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Successfully develop strong internal relationships with clinical leaders.
    * Successfully partner with assigned physician and clinical leaders within assigned facility. Successfully organize and implement a strong grateful patient referral process with demonstrated follow up protocols.
    * Develop clinical relationships around specific interest/disease area within the Wellstar Health System, as assigned. Manage relationships across clinical department lines so as to meet the objectives and spirit of the donor’s wishes that align with system priorities. Actively seek internal relationships and follow engagement program successfully within the organization.
  • Reporting and Tracking
    * Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite applications.
    * Proficient in using Raiser’s Edge for development activities.
  • Qualifications

Required Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in development, communication, business administration, marketing, non-profit management or related field REQUIRED

Required Minimum Experience

  • Minimum 3 years Three to five years fundraising experience Required and
  • Experience with healthcare fundraising Preferred

Required Minimum Skills

  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills working with multiple audiences including but not limited to internal leadership, staff, community donors, physicians and volunteers.
