Job Summary:

The Maternal Outreach Educator provides education and outreach to all delivering and non-delivering hospitals within the Augusta perinatal region as well as within Wellstar MCG Health. The Maternal Outreach Educator reports to the Grants Program Administrator for the Department of Public Health maternal awarded grant.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Conducts and provides assessment needs of the facilities, practice, and educational needs of all hospitals within the region and develops needed educational material. Teaches scheduled educational sessions. Conducts annual site visits at all delivering and non-delivering hospitals within the region using the American Academy of Pediatrics model for Level I, II, III, & IV hospitals. Acts as the maternal educational liaison between all hospitals within the region and to DPH. Reviews all maternal inpatients to determine if considered a maternal transport. Gathers data on maternal transports and maintains current and accurate data log. Ensures discharge summaries are sent to referring physician. Acts as the liaison for referring hospital matters to include the Medical Director. Gather and report data for all Geogia Perinatal Quality Collaborative maternal initiatives. Participate in GaPQC webinars, meetings, etc. as appropriate. Submits for and maintains accurate CNE documents. Coordinates with Neonatal Outreach Educator to create and update, as needed, maternal and neonatal education material and accompanying training. Offers educational opportunities to hospitals within the region as well as at the Regional Perinatal Center. Creates and provides an Educational Plan as well as a Needs Assessment to DPH, annually. Completes all aspects of the outside hospital site visit report and provides written report to the hospital. Completes education and outreach portions of the DPH quarterly programmatic report to include course objectives, attendance, modality, etc. Other duties as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Nursing

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
  • RN - Multi-state Compact or Reg Nurse (Single State)
  • ACLS - Instructor
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Prvdr

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):

STABLE Lead Instructor status within 1 Year Required

Required Minimum Experience:

Minimum 5 years in a level II or III Labor and Delivery setting as a staff nurse. Required or Minimum 3 years in perinatal teaching Preferred and
