Wellstar Health System is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – either a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – to join our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) team in Augusta, GA. This APP will work in a high-acuity, fast-paced critical care environment, managing complex cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive management of critically ill patients in the CVICU, including post-operative cardiac surgery patients.

  • Collaborate closely with attending intensivists, surgeons, cardiologists, nursing staff, and ancillary support teams to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care.

  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds, care planning, and clinical documentation using the EMR system.

  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, research efforts, and protocol development for cardiovascular critical care.

  • Educate patients, families, and healthcare staff on cardiovascular conditions, treatments, and recovery processes.

Education:

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Georgia.

  • National board certification (ACNP or PA-C required; critical care certification preferred).

  • BLS and ACLS certification required; CCRN preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in critical care, cardiovascular ICU, or cardiothoracic surgery preferred.

    • New graduates with strong critical care backgrounds may be considered.
