As a licensed RN, you will uphold the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and adhering to the American Nurses Association's Code of Ethics. You will be the voice of the patient, championing service excellence while adhering to our system policies and procedures.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Clinical Skills:

  • Provide comprehensive care throughout the ante-, intra-, and post-partum periods.

  • Implement the Nursing Process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring individualized care.

  • Utilize critical thinking to manage complex patient situations.

  • Administer medications and perform pre-procedure preparations and safety checks.

  • Maintain sterile technique and demonstrate IV administration competency.

  • Engage with patients and families through effective communication and care planning.

Quality and Patient Safety:

  • Verify patient identification using two identifiers.

  • Ensure clarity in verbal orders and complete necessary procedural verifications.

  • Adhere to health care policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Flexibility in hours to meet departmental needs.

  • Complete ongoing competency assessments and required education.

  • Foster teamwork and collaboration within the healthcare team.

  • Mentor and precept other nurses and students to build a skilled workforce.

  • Maintain effective communication and provide patient transport and comfort.

  • Stay current with BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications.

  • Participate in training and staff meetings.

Patient Education:

  • Educate patients and families on care procedures and post-procedural instructions.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned and comply with all WellStar Health System policies and standards of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited nursing program or a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • RN (Single State or Multi-state Compact)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification (Instructor or Provisional)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (Provisional or Instructor)

Preferred Certification:

  • National certification in a specialty area.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).

  • Basic computer skills and ability to leverage technology in clinical care.

  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a challenging environment and respond to emergencies effectively.

  • Excellent time management and critical thinking skills.
