Associate Director, Venture

Job Summary:


The Associate Director will report directly to the Head of Venture for Catalyst. As a member of the leadership team, the Associate Director will be responsible for helping to oversee the origination and execution of investment transactions. In addition, the Associate Director will also be responsible for originating and executing deals as part of Catalyst deal teams that include research and innovation team members. Also, the Associate Director will work with the Head of Venture and other Catalyst leadership members to manage the overall investment portfolio and report out regularly on its performance.

This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence at our Atlanta-based office three days per week.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Leadership activities: manages team along with Head of Venture and coaches them to grow
  • Deal Sourcing: finding investment opportunities that tie to Catalyst's strategic focus areas, themes and problem statements
  • Investment diligence: review investment opportunities including data rooms, customer calls, investor calls and interviews with SMEs to determine if Catalyst should allocate investment capital
  • Portfolio management: Regularly reviews current investment portfolio to identify risks and high performing investments
  • Wellstar networking: networking with subject matter experts within broader Wellstar to help uncover new investment themes and problem statements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Concentration in Accounting, Business Administration/Management, Finance or Economics is preferred.

Required Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare or corporate venture is required.
  • Leadership experience is preferred.
  • Background in finance is preferred.
