Job Summary:
Functions under the direction of the Vascular Institute Manager. He/she is responsible for the coordination of the day to day functions and activities of all nursing and surgical scrub functions in the VIOR and Vascular Hybrid cases. The Clinical Coordinator serves as a resource/support to the staff, physicians, patients, families, and other departments. Assist VI and Main OR Schedulers as needed with coordination of PHS Patient Schedule including a daily review of next day, patient schedule in collaboration with a representative from the vascular surgeons group. He/she is responsible for performing or assisting on a wide variety of clinical procedures requiring independent judgment including utilization of specialty equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for coordination and implementation of the nursing process based on expanded knowledge and experience. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for providing and coordinating patient care with an understanding and awareness of age specific needs. The Clinical Coordinator coordinates the educational needs of the patient, family or patient support system, including biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial needs. The Clinical Coordinator will successfully collaborate with multidisciplinary, specialty and physician groups. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for regulatory compliance and readiness as well as quality and patient safety initiatives. The Clinical Coordinator provides direct patient care as needed in the VIOR and Vascular Hybrid.Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
__Clinical Skills__ a. Uses critical thinking skills. b. Delivers patient care in complex, multiple problem patient care situations c. Preps the patient for procedure. d. Demonstrates and understands sterile technique. f. Demonstrates ability to fulfill role of surgical nurse during procedures in the Vascular OR and hybrid (must be able to assist in the Vascular Institute with IR procedures if needed) g. Demonstrates proficiency to circulating all vascular OR surgical and hybrid procedures h. Must be able to take IR call rotation __Education, engagement and supervision__ a. Responsible for staff in the VIOR, patient, family/ support system education (works with the VI educator to assure education for the VIOR staff including nurses and surgical scrub techs is sufficient) b. Provides supportive environment for physicians, residents, management, students and staff. c. Coordinates and delegates perioperative patient care / works close with the VI and main OR coordinators to assure staffing and breaks are appropriate for the VIOR and hybrid rooms d. Promotes shared governance and evidence based practice. e. Serves as professional role model and attends any all VIOR meetings f. Promotes team spirit and positive work environment. g. Engaged in departmental and WellStar initiatives h. oversees the schedule for the VIOR including nurses and surgical techs __Job Responsibilities__ A .Must be flexible with hours to meet departmental needs and assist with IR procedures if needed and directed by the nurse manager in the VI b. Knows existing lines of communication and authority, handles communications properly and is dependable, cooperative and emotionally stable. c. Introduces self to patient and/ or guardian upon entering room utilizing proper scripting; AIDET. d. Completes necessary paperwork. e. Ensures that the surgical room is sterile and safe for the patient f. Must have a strong attention to detail and physical stamina to handle long, arduous cases. g. Oversee and/or Order supplies and assist with inventory management __Quality and Patient Safety__ a. Verifies patient ID using 2 patient identifiers i.e. armband, DOB, verbal identification. b. Verifies written orders, seeks clarification if unclear. c. Understands and complies with verbal order RBAC and performs necessary follow-up with written order. d. Uses and understands pre-procedural verification/ Time Out e. Understands and complies with site/ side marking when indicated f. Interprets, supports, and implements system and departmental SCIP initiatives Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.Required Minimum Education:
Graduate of an accredited/approved School of Nursing and holds a current license in the State of Georgia. Required and Bachelor's Degree BSN PreferredRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.- Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
- Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ACLS - Instructor or ACLS - Provisional

Required Minimum Experience:
1-3 years Interventional and Perioperative experience RequiredRequired Minimum Skills:
