Job Summary:

This is an operational manager role, developing analytics and visualizations as well as managing and supporting team members in the development of analytics and visualizations. The primary responsibility of the Manager of Business Intelligence is to produce and guide a team in the production of analytical solutions including data integration, manipulation and solution design, translating business needs into sustainable and high quality deliverables. This includes understanding our internal and external customer needs for data and metrics.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Analytics and Visualization
- Design and develop creative data visualizations that meet the business needs and are readily understandable to end users.
- Guide and coach team members in organization, design and development of data visualizations.
- Perform data discovery, scrutinizing the accuracy of the data, and stage for optimal consumption and performance in visualizations.
- Assist in creation of development standards/processes and ensure team members adhere to standards/processes.
- Support team members in project life cycle, assisting team members manage deliverable to deadline. Guide team members in each phase of the life cycle including setting a reasonable and attainable scope, appropriate data discovery, manipulation and staging, creative data visualizations and analytics, testing/reconciliation, documentation, and rollout/promotion.
- Assist in feasibility assessments and timing expectations of new visualization requests. Execute according to prioritization of Enterprise Intelligence road map.
- Provide guidance in design of security architecture; create processes for audit and maintenance. Data Integration and Data Warehousing
- Work with IT counterparts and team members to design, build, validate, and maintain data solutions for an enterprise data warehouse.
- Collaborating across teams, augment the enterprise data warehouse with logic and data elements that would otherwise reside in offline or silo-ed systems, creating objects/jobs as necessary on the EDW ensuring audit, accuracy, consistency, visibility, reusability, ease of maintenance, and documentation.
- Create objects as necessary on EDW for optimal consumption/performance in visualizations; guide, coach, and mentor staff on related best practices.
- Ensure team understands and adheres to data warehousing standards, code promotion processes, and change controls.
- Establish automated processes for data delivery and data validation, ensuring reconciliation between source and destination.
- Assist with data governance, data quality and master data management initiatives.
- Manage maintenance and audit of objective data quality metrics and stewardship membership. Team Development and Management
- Hire, motivate, monitor, and develop team members to maintain a knowledgeable and highly qualified Business Intelligence team.
- Develop the staffs technical, database, SQL and visualization skills, providing training and regular feedback.
- Manage team members deliverables to high quality and timely completion ensuring adherence to all standards/processes.
- Manage and support day-to-day team needs and issues. Manage team workload and assignments as necessary to meet deadlines. Other Management Duties
- Manage other Enterprise Intelligence initiatives/projects as assigned.
- Exercise initiative and independent judgment with respect to making decisions regarding problem-solving issues.
- Provide the strategic leadership, collaborative coordination, creative problem solving around areas of responsibility for the role.
- Manage a centralized cross functional team as well as preside as SME for areas of responsibility for the role.
- Work effectively with all levels of team members within the organization.
- Participate on committees and attends meetings as needed.

Required Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science Required or
related field from an accredited four year institution Required and
Master's Degree Preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

Epic training and certification required, other training and certifications may be required depending on the applications that are being managed Required

    Additional License(s) and Certification(s):

    Required Minimum Experience:

    Minimum 5 years Business Intelligence experience including data manipulation, validation and design, analytics, reporting and visualization Required and
    Minimum 2 years of experience directly managing others with a track record of increasing responsibilities. Required

    Required Minimum Skills:

    Experience and in-depth working knowledge of SQL, manipulating and understanding large, complex datasets;
    Experience and in-depth working knowledge of relational databases and modeling including ERDs, normalization and de-normalization (star schema).
    Familiarity with data warehousing including ETL (data movement, integration and validation) and code promotion processes.
    Skilled in creating analytics and visualizing data through such presentation and analytical tools as Tableau, QlikView, Microsoft Power BI, MicroStrategy, SAP Business Objects, or similar.
    Experience with development life cycle; ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects to timely completion without compromising quality or scope of deliverable.
    Ability to develop, mentor, motivate and manage staff.
    Ability to work cohesively across departments, building consensus and producing results.
    Superior critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills.
