Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Data Transformation Analyst- Quality and Benchmarking is to be a liaison between individual sites across WellStar and the Enterprise Intelligence (EI) Team. He/she ensures that the systems and processes owned by EI are understood by end users, is accurate and represents the correct information. These systems and processes will be focused on the hospital quality benchmarking tool but can be expanded to the clinical cost accounting tool, the patient experience monitoring process, information available in other systems
The Data Transformation analyst Quality and Benchmarking reports to the Manager of Data Transformation and supports the coordination efforts of the Senior Data Transformation Analyst.
This individual will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Quality and Benchmarking tools including the data that is available, the processes for the use of the data, interpretation and reporting of the information that is available.
This individual is responsible for helping the sites by providing information that they need for performance improvement opportunities by mining the data in the various systems owned by EI. He/she will work closely with Site Personnel and build reports to support Operational, Financial and Quality needs and will need to become a valued member of the Team
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Support and perform data transformation processes with a focus on clinical quality benchmarking in NDNQI
* Work with assigned clinical sites as their primary liaison for WellStars selected clinical benchmarking software including: training, report building and analysis of data as actionable insights.
* Partner with team members across the organization (including accounting/finance, operations, IT and WellStar leadership) to ensure that data feeding the processes overseen by the Manager of Data Transformation supports the teams needs and WellStars information needs
Maintain advanced knowledge of how to work with relational data specifically in the data enhancement tools used within the team and in reporting and visualization tools used within EI
* Stay current with industry practice and notify leadership of any concerns with issues around areas of responsibility
* Work collaboratively with IT counterparts to ensure proper data flows to maintain the systems and processes for areas of responsibility
* Serve as a resource to the Data Enhancement Analysts around these processes
Other Duties
* Perform other Enterprise Intelligence data transformation processes as assigned
* Exercise initiative and independent judgment with respect to making decisions regarding problem-solving issues
* Support leadership, exhibit collaborative coordination with teammates, and creative problem solving around areas of responsibility for the role
* Serve as SME for areas of responsibility for the role
Required Minimum Education:
BS or BA Degree Required and
Educational background in a technical field, information technology, clinical field or business or related work experience are all desirable in the role Preferred
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 2 years with related experience in a healthcare environment
Required and
Minimum 2 years working with complex data sets in a relational database environment with tools such as NDNQI, MS Excel, Data Analyst, and other 3rd party visualization tools Required
Required Minimum Skills:
Strong aptitude toward understanding technology concepts and techniques and learning to use new data management and presentation toolsets Familiarity with SQL or other common query language recommended
Advanced skills working with relational database structures and concepts and advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Access) skills
Familiarity with common statistically appropriate means of data and process analysis
Personal desire for continuous knowledge and skill growth and development.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy and a sense of personal accountability.
Self-motivated and well organized with strong time management skills.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment and act as a mentor to less experienced team members.
