Job Summary:
Wellstar Health System is seeking a skilled and compassionate Surgical Podiatrist to join our dynamic team at our Acworth location. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional surgical and non-surgical care for patients with foot and ankle conditions. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a comprehensive, patient-focused healthcare system and serve a diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive podiatric evaluations and assessments for patients with foot and ankle conditions.
  • Conduct surgical procedures for various podiatric issues, including deformities, trauma, and diabetic-related conditions.
  • Provide post-operative care, including follow-up appointments and wound care.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare providers within the Wellstar Health System to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients on preventive care and wellness strategies to maintain foot and ankle health.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education.
  • Maintain detailed patient records in compliance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest surgical techniques, treatment modalities, and advancements in podiatric care.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited school of podiatry.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Podiatric Surgery (ABPM or ABFAS).
  • Active and unrestricted Georgia state license (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in surgical podiatry preferred, but new graduates with strong surgical training are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on patient-centered care.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex patient cases.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Fellowship training in podiatric surgery or specialized areas such as diabetic foot care or reconstructive surgery.
  • Experience working within a large healthcare system.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in surgical podiatry.
