Job Summary:
The Learning and Onboarding Manager works collaboratively with Executive Directors, business leaders, HR leaders and other OL team members to identify organizational onboarding needs, determine appropriate training for new hires, support system initiatives, and implement innovative strategies that will increase team member knowledge and performance. Creates and implements system onboarding programs that support the organization's strategic goals. Develops, delivers, and evaluates training and onboarding programs. Creates tools, models, and training programs that build the capability of the Organizational Learning team. This position actively researches, creatively designs, and implements effective methods to enhance the overall onboarding experience of all new hires. Conducts in-depth evaluation of Learning & Onboarding offerings to ensure program effectiveness and positive ROI. Ensures alignment with strategic business objectives and maintains high quality standards in instructional design and development for all methods of program delivery. Works with business leaders and HR leadership to plan and execute large scale learning initiatives. Uses subject matter/functional expertise, assessments, and process skills to help internal customers and stakeholders identify learning and onboarding opportunities.
Continuously liaises with all levels of leadership and staff in the delivery of OL services and the provision of consulting support. Builds and maintains long-term partnerships with external vendors to source learning and related programs and/or tools. Provides expertise and coaching in using and implementing proprietary training instruments and curricula. The Learning & Onboarding Manager works independently and collaboratively with OL Executive Directors and serves as an immediate supervisor for the Learning & Development team.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Onboarding Leader
- Provides oversight to Wellstars onboarding experience for all new team members
- Directs onboarding programs to include Team Member and Care Giver Orientation and Clinical Orientation
- Oversees communication to new hires regarding their onboarding experience and ensures team members receive onboarding communication in a timely manner
- Reviews data and ensures integrity of onboarding reports including offers extended, track communication, and new hire reporting
- Maintains and evaluates onboarding processes including any technology systems used to support
- Recommends data-driven improvements to the onboarding experience based on key metrics and survey results
- Provides leadership to team members who design, implement, and evaluate system onboarding programs at Wellstar such as onboarding platforms, classes, virtual training, and online education
- Leads the design and coordination of onboarding programs as requested by stakeholders in support of Wellstar strategic goals
- Provides fiscal oversight in terms of creating and monitoring training expenses for new and ongoing programs
- Incorporates state and national professional trends and research findings into training to provide best practice models.
- Collaborates with HR leaders, business leaders, and subject matter experts to ensure training programs meet organizational compliance with regulatory agencies on state and national levels (Joint Commission, State of GA, CMS, etc.)
- Builds and maintains long-term partnerships with external vendors to source training and related programs and/or tools. Provides expertise and coaching in using and implementing proprietary training instruments and curricula. Aligns proprietary curricula with Wellstar needs and expectations. Project Management
- Collaborates with business leaders, HR, and other OL professionals to determine current and future training needs.
- Identifies potential gaps, aligns training tools and provides guidance in the development of strategies to address learning deficits.
- Identifies training and education options and supports curriculum design, review, and programmatic evaluation.
- Identifies and resolves issues and conflicts within education plans
- Ensures training projects are completed on time and assigned to team members as agreed upon Develops and Mentors Team Members
- Responsible for creating and promoting a culture of learning
- Responsible for trust action planning and ensuring ongoing team member engagement
- Recruits, develops, and evaluates team members
- Motivates team members and recognizes team member efforts on a regular basis
- Provides team members ongoing communication on Wellstars vision, mission, values, and strategic goals
- Develops and monitors department and system standards, policies, and procedures

Required Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Required or
related healthcare field Required and
Master's Degree Preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

  • Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact

Required Minimum Experience:

Minimum 5 years 7 years of experience in Learning & Development, adult education Required or
a related field Required and
Experience in a complex multi-site organization in an intermediate to large size organization (5,000 to 10,000 FTEs). Required and
Healthcare experience Required and
Minimum 3 years management experience including budgetary responsibility and supervision of individuals engaged in diverse functions Required

Required Minimum Skills:

Experience leading a team of high-functioning individual contributors.
Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theories, philosophies and methods, adult learning styles and interactive teaching methods, coaching and consulting with individuals and teams, change management theory, organizational and needs analysis, and principles of customer service.
Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of quality improvement models, healthcare systems and organizational behavior are important.
Ability to manage multiple and varied projects and lead a team to ensure projects are delivered and evaluated.
Versatility with technology and particularly learning methods/technologies
