Job Summary:

The Exercise Physiologist (EP) functions under the direction of the Supervisor of Highland Athletic Club or Supervisor Programs at Health Place. The EP will encounter multiple environments across a multifaceted integrated delivery system at Wellstar Highland Athletic Club and/or Wellstar Health Place, like adolescent strength and conditioning, geriatric strength and conditioning and other special populations for exercise training. Working within a team of healthcare professionals including medical doctors, registered dietitians, nurses, and other exercise physiologists, the EP will have an exciting, well-rounded experience within our healthcare system, through Highland Athletic Club and/or Health Place. The EP is responsible for planning, performing all assessments, testing and exercise activity. The EP will supervise Exercise Physiologist interns at both undergraduate and graduate level and develop exercise programs. The EP will be responsible for collecting data for new programming and report findings to the Supervisor for direction and program development.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Personal Training * Perform one-on-one training sessions with clients. * Small group training and group fitness instruction. * Responsible for a portion of monthly personal training revenue. * Responds promptly to emergency medical situations and executes established emergency procedures. * Desire to help clients reach their health and fitness goals through proper cardiovascular, flexibility and resistance exercise. * Prepare exercise program prior to client appointment time based on appropriate fitness assessment. * Evaluate client over time and adjust goals as needed. Exercise Testing, Prescription and Programming * Create and conduct exercise assessments and exercise prescriptions based on client abilities and limitations. * Assist with vital sign collection (height, weight, waist circumference, etc.) and conduct fitness tests. * Explain any exercise/procedure/testing to clients using appropriate verbiage and client education materials. * Collect data for research programs and grants. * Supervise and monitor clients during exercise/testing until exercise/testing conclusion. * Motivate patients to achieve their goals. * Assist clients with baseline goal setting and promotes Highland Athletic Club/Health Place programs to assist new member completion of wellness/fitness goals. Responsible for the marketing and sales for all exercise services at Highland Athletic Club/Health Place * Responsible for making sure all personal training prospects are contacted and scheduled for consultation. * Participate in community and employee-based events including health fairs, Employee Wellness events, races, open houses, new program launches, etc. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree Science, Exercise Science, Recreation Management or related field Required or Master's Degree Preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
  • Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor
  • Cert Exercise Physiologist

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):

Required Minimum Experience:

Minimum 3 years experience Required clinical or adolescent strength and conditioning Preferred

Required Minimum Skills:

Display strong motivation for community outreach and working with children, adults and senior adults. Displays excellent technical, interpersonal, organization, communication, and motivational skills. Displays commitment to an excellent health and wellness lifestyle. Displays competency in computer applications such as Windows. Able to exercise independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative when performing roles.
