Overview

The Executive Director of Patient Engagement directs the design, implementation, and evaluation of PeopleCare Advisory Programs (PCAPs) to advance system policies and promote person-centered care across the Wellstar health system. The Executive Director of Patient Engagement operates from the foundation that engaging patients and families and establishing mutually beneficial partnerships will improve quality, patient safety, and health outcomes. The Executive Director of Patient Engagement strives to identify and represent all aspects of Wellstar's unique and diverse population to create a network of PeopleCare Advisors across facilities and service lines to embed the patient/family and consumer voice into the work and decisions of Wellstar Health System..

Responsibilities

Design, Direct, and Manage PeopleCare Advisory Program Execution, Strategy, and Goals

  • Direct the development of PeopleCare Advisory Programs (PCAP), goals, objectives, policies, and performance metrics by soliciting input from staff at all levels within the system, physicians, and senior leaders, patients and families.
  • Conduct regular assessments to monitor progress toward the attainment of PCAP goals and objectives and ensure a diverse and representative reflection of Wellstar?s patient population.
  • Develop and oversee PCAP awareness and education strategies for ongoing recruitment and membership attainment.
  • Work in partnership with facility patient experience leaders to enable person centered engagement in all facets of care, including safety infrastructure, innovative efforts, and care processes across the continuum.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders across Wellstar facilities, promoting engagement and collaboration in PCAP development and execution.
  • Partner with IT and other stakeholders to create innovative opportunities for PeopleCare Advisors (PCAs) to purposefully participate and engage in education, quality/safety, experience, and research efforts.
  • Work in partnership with patient experience Data Analytics in the development, collection, analysis, and tracking of data trends to evaluate effectiveness of patient and family engagement efforts.
  • Contribute to the development of an annual budget for PCAP programs and initiatives.

Promote and Sustain Person-Centered Care through PeopleCare Advisory Programs

  • Serve as Wellstar?s PeopleCare Advisory Program subject matter expert and consultant to staff, physicians, and leadership.
  • Create and execute ways of recognizing and celebrating PeopleCare advisors for their commitment to Wellstar, highlighting accomplishments and partnerships.
  • Oversee process for recruiting, interviewing, selecting, onboarding, training, and placing PCAs in collaboration with Volunteer Services.
  • Create interdepartmental relationships, deliver ongoing education, and provide support for integration of PeopleCare Advisory Programs while maintaining enthusiasm and commitment to the change process.
  • Prepare and deliver oral presentations.

Build Wellstar's Patient Experience Program to National Prominence

  • Network to strengthen Wellstar's profile by participating and contributing to regional, state, national, and international listservs, organizations, and publications.
  • Partner with Marketing/Communications and Community Relations to recognize, publicize, and celebrate PeopleCare Advisory contributions to Wellstar?s success.
  • Create and maintain active affiliations with Wellstar communities and industry agencies, networks, and organizations, in collaboration with Community and Government Relations

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health and Human Services, Education, or Business or Health Care Administration required.

Required Minimum Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with patient experience and progressive leadership required.
  • Experience with public speaking, presentations, and group facilitation required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with patient -and family-centered care preferred.

Required Minimum Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Sound understanding of medical terminology.
  • Willingness to maintain flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
