Overview

Administers and directs the day-to-day functions related to Purchasing Operations for Wellstar Health System's CSC (Consolidated Service Center) operation. Is considered an advanced resource for the purchase of supplies, equipment, and services in accordance with quality, quantities, most favorable pricing, and delivery requirements. Assists the Buyer/Planners with learning and utilizing the MRP Report to maintain appropriate stock levels of product within the CSC. Should maintain contact with sources of supplies to keep informed of market trends, availability of supplies, new items, and reliability of suppliers. Works to determine the best method of purchase and procedures to support. The Purchasing Supervisor will report directly to the Supply Chain Business Office Manager.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilites and Essential Functions

Vendor Relationships * Maintain strong communication channels with assigned vendors. * Remain informed of market trends, availability of supplies, new items, and reliability of suppliers.

Fill Rate/Procurement * Work with Purchasing and Ops team to maintain a minimum of 98% on the stock item Fill Rate. * Monitor MRP Report to ensure accurate data is being used to configure/change reorder points and reorder quantities. * Regularly order stock items for the CSC to maintain appropriate on-hand quantities.

Training/Documentation * Create and modify SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) to stay aligned with best practices. * Provide on-the-job training to new and existing team members.

Customer Service * Ability to communicate supply chain processes with clinicians, vendors, and Supply Chain staff. * Identify and resolve issues related to purchase orders and related documents. * Establish a work environment that promotes premier customer service.

Leadership Responsibilities * Oversee four (4) FTE’s responsible for daily stock procurement and troubleshooting orders. * Evaluate and provide feedback to team regarding performance. * Develop and promote growth through focused training and succession planning.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field Required

Required Minimum Experience

Minimum 4 years of Demand Planning and Procurement experience, preferably in a Warehousing and Distribution Operation in the healthcare, automotive, or other repetitive manufacturing or distribution operation. Required and

Minimum 2 years ERP procurement experience with Lawson, Oracle, Peoplesoft, SAP or similar software package Required and

Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience, leading, training, and managing a Warehousing and Distribution Procurement Team Required and

Computer/data entry experience. Required

Required Minimum Skills

Ability to communicate with various members of the healthcare team.

Ability to use Excel (Pivot tables and VLOOKUP), Word, and have basic computer operational knowledge.

Extensive knowledge of medical/surgical products, services, and/or vendors utilized in a hospital setting preferred.

Comprehensive knowledge of commodities in area of specialization.

Knowledge of industry standard purchase order software platforms, (GHX, Lawson a plus).

Have a breadth of general knowledge of Vendor Contracting, Procure-to-Pay policies, and warehousing.

Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to details.

Strong Customer Focus ethic with a sense of urgency.

Strong analytical and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to multi-task and have strong communication skills with assigned service lines.

Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion.
