Job Summary: The BioMedical Equipment Technician I (BMET1) provides clinical equipment services under the close supervision of management. Duties include but are not limited to: Perform calibrations and repairs on equipment as assigned. Demonstrate knowledge of safe and approved troubleshooting techniques on medical devices. Read schematics and service manuals, consult with vendors and service representatives to assist in troubleshooting. Utilizes basic test equipment and complete repairs in a time and cost-effective manner with patient safety as the primary focus. Document work performed and any significant performance data accurately and in a timely manner. Operates as part of a team of engineers responsible for providing in depth technical knowledge required to implement, manage, upgrade and support many applications and interoperability into EPIC and other repositories. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Responds to service calls to evaluate, diagnose, and perform corrective and preventative maintenance on biomedical equipment which requires moderate intervention. Performs safety acceptance testing on new medical equipment and on hospital equipment returned after service. Documents all repair, maintenance, installation, and other activity in a timely fashion using the departments equipment management software and other mechanisms as needed. Update/Install medical equipment to include security protocols and work with customers to provide design solutions maintaining technical and application standards. Works closely with all engineers across all teams including, Biomedical Engineering, Desktop Support, Systems and Network Engineering. Assist Senior BioMedical Equipment Technicians in complex repairs, special projects, and installations and deinstallations of equipment. Serves as a customer relations representative for the department, correcting service deficiencies within the positions scope of responsibility and relaying other issues to the Program Manager. Has working knowledge of and appropriate interaction with other support departments necessary for performing the BioMedical Department function. Performs other related duties as assigned, demonstrating a willingness to perform additional tasks as required and gives assistance when needed. Ensures proper care and accountability of Department, facility and peer tools and exercises judicious use of Department parts, supplies and other resources. Maintains knowledge of current regulations and compliance standards for medical equipment and technology developments. Contributes to System/Facility/Department Quality Performance Improvement efforts. Required Minimum Education: Associate's Degree Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Related Field Required or High school diploma A Student graduating with Associates degree in Related Field within 1 year of hire Required or GED with 3+ years of Related Experience or Military Service Training. Required or Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.- CompTIA A+ Certification-Preferred
