The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - Advanced Heart Failure is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses – are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.

Facility: Kennestone Hospital

WellStar Medical Group is seeking Board Certified/Board Eligible Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant for busy and well established Advanced Heart Failure Cardiology team.  

Manage and coordinate the healthcare of the advanced heart failure patient, in the inpatient and ambulatory setting at Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center, located approximately 25 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, GA.

This is a full-time opportunity working days M-F but will also consider a weekend only option.

Responsibilities
Wellstar Health System is a 10-hospital system in the metropolitan Atlanta region. Our flagship hospital is Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center in Marietta, GA. Wellstar Kennestone is a 3 tower, 630-bed hospital with an active expansion plan underway.

We currently have an 18 bed CCU and a premier temporary mechanical support program for cardiogenic shock, which includes VA-ECMO, Impella CP/RP/5.5, Tandem Heart, Protek Duo, and IABP (femoral and axillary). In addition, we have a robust durable LVAD program that is among the leaders in the country in terms of implant volume at non-transplant centers. We also have a high-volume cardiac surgery program, and we have become regional leaders in implanting the Heartmate 3 device via thoracotomy approach. We have developed close relationships with multiple academic centers that serve as transplant partners.

Join our multi-disciplinary clinical team which will include 4 Advanced Heart Failure trained cardiologists, 2 VAD surgeons, 3 RN VAD coordinators, 5 Heart Failure/VAD NPs, as well as social workers and behavioral health professionals. Our team provides inpatient and outpatient care of patients with heart failure, chronic inotropic support, and durable LVAD therapy. We also have access to the latest in heart failure device therapies, including implantable pulmonary artery pressure monitors, baroreceptor activation therapy, and cardiac contractility modulation.

The Wellstar Center for Cardiovascular Care is the largest and most comprehensive provider of cardiovascular services in northwest Georgia. The Center includes 9 hospitals and 26 office locations throughout metro Atlanta. Our 90+ physicians and 85+ APPs provide care for the entire spectrum of cardiac patients (surgery, structural heart, advanced heart failure, EP, advanced imaging, complex intervention, ECMO, and research).

Qualifications
•    Required Minimum Education: Board Certified/Board Eligible Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant.  
•    Required Minimum Experience: Previous APP experience in cardiology and AHF is preferred.
